It’s finished!!! DAMN!
SOTR 2010 is end, I hope to come again next year, but now I want to share with you my experience here in London.
SOTR was organized at TigerTiger club near Piccadilly circus in the heart of London and believe me, It’s my first time that I take part in a conference where stop for a couple of days a club! That’s totally crazy, but this is SOTR and I love it! (Obviously free drink inside ;P)
Location a part, sessions were pretty cool, I really appreciate Aral and Serge one, the first was an inspire session based on clients UX and I grabbed very cool suggestions; Serge’s session was about AIR 2 and Flash Player 10.1 on Android devices… I really love those stuff!
It was impressive a performance benchmark where the same animation created with HTML and JS (7fps), another made with HTML 5 and canvas (9fps) and one made with Flash Player 10.1 (25fps !!! I really love Flash Platform) obtains different results on Android… and what results!!!
I was at SOTR also to speak about AIR 2 printing API, AlivePDF and PurePDF, I made an inspire session that allow you to have the right solution when someone (your boss maybe?!) ask you to create data reports or paper documents in a Flex RIA or AIR application.
My English a part, I think that people enjoy case history part and first twitter messages are agree with me, so believe me guys at SOTR, thank you so much for your time.
Finally in my session I shared my “thoughts” about HTML 5, Apple and so on (many photos on this slide, I was sure that you appreciate it! :D).
You can download all the stuff made for AIR & Printing session directly from this blog and if you weren’t in London and you want ask me more details about this cool shit, feel free to contact me or leave a comment at this post!
Ok, it’s time to come back to reality but before that I must say a big THANK YOU to Andy Allan that organize this amazing event, Cyril and Guust (and his girlfriend) for the great time spent together in London talking about Coldfusion and our beautiful countries.
Just passed! I become Adobe Certified Expert on Flash CS4!
Like Flex with AIR certification I’d like to share my experience to prepare yourself for ACE exam of Flash CS4.
First of all… EXPERIENCE! You must work, play and work & play with Flash CS4 IDE and Actionscript 3.
More experience you have on Flash development less you must study for the exam and you have more chance to pass.
Obviously, it’s so difficult to know everything about Flash CS4 from all IDE controls to Actionscript 3 and OOP so there are 2 books that could be helpful to solve this “issue”.
With those book you can create a good base to try ACE exam for Flash CS4 but, if you have read Essential Actionscript 3 could be better for Actionscript side and for your daily work ;).
Another good suggestion is to read Help guide of Flash, in fact Adobe made an impressive job on that guide and you can find lots of interesting stuff; you can download a guide PDF file directly from this link.
Try everything, from import PSD or AI files to prepare files for web or desktop application with AIR, because you may find some questions about AIR and own code syntax!
Finally test yourself before real exam with a very good service (I really appreciate it) like acequestions.com with less then $10 you can try how Flash CS4 exam works and also which kind of questions you could find in that certification.
That’s it! Take a look at Adobe site to read all information to become Adobe Certified Expert and… GOOD LUCK!
this post is very important, for us but also for you.
If you are a developer we want to know your opinion!
With my company, we are starting a new software development dedicated to developers, made from developers to developers.
So we’d like to hear your voices, help us to make a better software for developers world.
Take this survey, it’s only few questions but they help us to know how you expect from a new tool for developers.
Don’t worry, in next few weeks I’ll give you more informations about that, but until now, please take the survey and thank you in advance to everyone.
Feel free to leave a comment or contact me via email for any questions.
This summer, during my flights, I decide to read a book dedicate on how to create AMAZING presentation, so I buy Presentation Zen and in 10 hours more or less I finish it and… WOW, it opens my mind!
Author approach is very simple and start his book saying: “Remember that are only suggestions, this book is not a bible that teach you how to use Powerpoint or Keynote, but it shows you how to approach a real presentation process”.
In fact, if you read the book, you don’t learn how to prepare great slides with slideware (it’s a fantastic term to define presentation’s softwares like Powerpoint or Keynote) but you’ll learn what you MUST think behind a slide… out of your computers world.
Few things that I learn reading Presentation Zen:
- Avoid bullets list (like this :P)
- Think about the message before switch on your computer and, if you can, go away from your computer with a pen or pencil and paper, tons of papers
- You must focus your presentation in ONE MESSAGE and follow it during your slides creation
- An image is better of 1 thousand of words
- Presentation must help you during your speech and not substitute you
- Less is better
There are tons of concepts that can help any kind of speakers from IT world to Yoga teachers (I suppose).
I think could be so interesting for anyone that usually speech for passion in conferences or for everyone that make presentation for work like CEO, marketing people and so on.
If you are interesting to buy this book or give more informations about it, go to author’s blog.
That’s it! Second day is finished, but it was very interesting! I know better a lots of speakers and attendees, I love share experience and points of view with them.
I go to Piergiorgio session on Papervision and he was amazing! Very cool session man!
So I go to Giorgio session on Accessibility with Flex and he found a great solution to interact with screen readers, that was cool!
Finally, I can’t miss it, I see an introduction on Cairngorm by Neil Webb (you rock man!) very cool session and so funny preso, I love it!
Sorry Zohar if I can’t come in your session but I hear that you made a very cool stuff!
Also, if you’d like to take a look at some cool video about the conference, please view Zohar mix!
Tomorrow is the final day, I spent great time here, I hope to keep in touch with a lots of attendees and speakers that I met here.
In this weekend I’ll also put in my Flickr account some photos.
It’s just finished this long day, I slept 2 hours to finish my preso and samples, I hope that people enjoy my Flex BitmapData session!
I’ll put preso and samples in the next few days in this blog, so take a look everyday guys!
There weren’t a lots of people at 360Flex, but I met a lots of strong developers for all over the world, there were great share moments and all speakers help toghether to make a better session ( I love so much this atmosphere).
I’m so glad that a lots of italian developers and companies are lost this cool appointment to know better Flex and AIR technologies!
In fact you could talk with Adobe people (Evangelist, marketing people and so on) and with cool speakers that help you to understand better the power of flash platform! I hope tomorrow I can see more people here!
This evening all speakers go out with Adobe people to have dinner and to know us better and talk about Adobe softwares and strategies, that’s cool!
I’ll put also new event photos in my Flickr account, so please take a look sometimes!
You can download my preso and my samples NOW!
